One of our affiliate organisations has asked us to pass on the following information, which we are more than happy to do.

As-salamu`alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

The Rochdale Islamic Re-enactment Society is pleased to announce that we will be re-staging the historic Demonstration Against Free Expression which took place in Birmingham’s Victoria Square on March 25th 2006.

This event will be on Saturday April 29th at the Whitworth Road Car Park, Rochdale at 11.30 am, with repeat performances at 1.45 pm and 4.00 pm, inshaAllah. All the roles of the speakers and community leaders have been filled, but we still need some people to play the parts of the crowd, especially placard-bearers and disinterested passers-by. If you would like to join in the fun, please leave your contact details in the comments here at the Muslim Actionable Committee blog.

If you can’t actually take part, don’t worry - just come along and watch the action!

We would also like to point out that following a recent fatwa against any symbolic reproduction of living entities, Akhtar the Balloon Man can no longer attend events organised by RIRS. Let’s face it, he only did camels any way.

We here at the Muslim Actionable Committee think this will be a great day out for all the family. Make sure you tell all your friends!
